What Our Prejudiced World Today Can Learn From Islam’s Teachings Against Racism & Intolerance!
One of the most amazing teachings about Islam is that it negates all kinds of racism. It unites all mankind at one platform irrespective of their color, gender, race, creed, culture or any other social differences. It removes all the ranks that people create based on these factors. Allah says in the Noble Quran:
“O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.” [Noble Quran 49:13]
This one verse is enough to make anyone realize that there’s good in every race, whether black or white, it doesn’t make any difference.
For a Muslim, if his leader is a black man with a skin as dark as charcoal or a man whose skin is white as snow, it doesn’t make any difference. What his nationality is, what his color is, if he’s a believer, he’s obeyed.
Islam removes color consciousness from people. It encourages people to love and respect different cultures and races. That’s the way Allah made the beauty in this world by making different colors and races.
Islam doesn’t judge anyone based on his looks. Allah says in the Noble Quran:
“It is He who forms you in the wombs however He wills.” [Noble Quran 3:6]
A Muslim is pleased with however Allah the Creator has made him.
There’s no racism or injustice in Islam but because of the weakness of people and the contamination of some of them, racism creeps in the hearts. This happens when people don’t follow the teachings of Islam.
The real judgment is not our skin color, but are our actions. Allah’s Messenger ﷺ said:
“Verily Allah does not look to your faces and your wealth but He looks to your heart and to your deeds.” [Sahih Muslim]
